* Dog Gift Tweaks: Makes it so that when you give your mabari his special gifts, he gains attribute bonuses.

* Better Qunari: Gives Sten and other qunari bonuses to various attributes just like every other race has.

Visibly Elf-Blooded: Makes elfblooded (or characters like Leliana who are often headcanoned as elfblooded) characters appear more elven.

** Qunari Update: Makes Sten and the other qunari resemble their DA2 counterparts.

I mainly recommend the body mesh edits and the forest lighting fix (which is a must-use**), and also enjoy the eye edit.

Not yet compatible with the Realistic DAO Project although a compatible version may be coming in the future.

* Elf Update: If you like your elves looking like they did in DA2, this is the mod for you, although it does whitewash a few characters, as do add-ons Ferelden Elves and DA2 Elves for DAO although these add-ons are better about it.

Of course, that info won’t import between games.

Complete Bi Overhaul: If you want to romance Alistair as a man or Morrigan as a woman, this is the mod to use.

** Better Dwarf Model: Does for male dwarves in certain armor what Female Proportion Fixes does for female characters.

Download for dwarves, elves (note that elf update includes similar functions and a different underwear model), and humans (two body types available, but only one can be used at a time). Also includes versions of light armor that matches the male version to actually provide chest coverage.

**Female Proportion Fixes: The female bodies in the game just look slightly off (or more than slightly in the case of dwarves).

* Realistic DAO Project: Not complete yet (it’s a lot of work), but this project intends to include every character’s face redesigned in a more natural and lore-friendly way.

My favorite things are that it gives NPCs better ambient behavior, increases party banter triggers, adds tons of new armor and improves the appearance of vanilla armor, and provides each origin with unique starting weapons.

** Improved Atmosphere: Includes a LOT of files to pick and choose from.

I’ve marked my absolute favorites with an asterisk (*) or two if I consider it an essential. I’m also not including any underwear/nude replacements or anything that changes sex scenes because hey, tastes vary.įor mods that improve continuity in the series, see here.
